Guitar Program - The Guitar Division is directed by Dr. Andrew Zohn. It offers extensive study in classical guitar performance with emphasis on both solo and ensemble repertoire.
Orchestral Activities - The area of Orchestral Activities at Columbus State University is directed by Dr. Fred Cohen. The CSU Philharmonic Orchestra is the primary ensemble, performing approximately four programs per semester. Recent guest artists include Jon Kimura Parker and Charlie Vernon. The Philharmonic accompanies chorus and serves as the opera orchestra, and is open to all qualified students by audition only.
Wind Ensemble Activities - The area of Wind Ensemble Activities at Columbus State University is directed by Dr. Robert W. Rumbelow. This area includes the CSU Wind Ensemble (the premier touring and recording ensemble), the CSU Wind Orchestra, and the CSU Chamber Winds. All ensembles perform repertoire from the traditional to the cutting edge of contemporary art music. All ensembles are made up of select auditioned student members and perform on level with the finest ensembles of this type in the country.
Vocal Ensemble Activities - Under the direction of Constantina Tsolainou, the Paul S. and Jean R. Amos Faculty Chair and Director of Choral Activities, this area includes the Chamber Singers (the premiere mixed ensemble, primarily but not limited to music majors), Women's Vocal Ensemble (primarily but not limited to music majors), Chorale (comprised of CSU students and members of the community from Columbus and the surrounding region), Choral Union (the combined ensembles), and other chamber vocal ensembles. All ensembles are devoted to providing outstanding performances of the finest choral literature.
Opera Theatre - The Schwob School of Music boasts one of the few undergraduate opera theater programs in the nation.
Jazz Band - Now in its thirty-second year, the award-winning Columbus State University Jazz Band is the performance cornerstone of the University's Jazz studies program. It is directed by Dr. Alexander Pershounin.
Small Ensemble Opportunities - Chamber music is also an integral part of the performance opportunities available to students.
Percussion Activities - The CSU Percussion Ensemble is directed by Dr. Paul Vaillancourt. It presents several concerts every year which includes some touring in the spring. In addition to ensemble activities, percussion majors also perform on studio and chamber music recitals.
