Fred Cohen, Director and Professor, Schwob School of Music, BA University of California, Santa Cruz, MM/DMA Cornell University in Composition; further studies at CCRMA, Stanford University, and IRCAM, Paris. His works have been performed throughout the Americas, and in Northern and Eastern Europe, to include commissions and performances by the Shanghai and Borromeo String Quartets, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the 21st Century Ensemble, and the Paul Hill Chorale. Dr. Cohen served as the founder and director of CURENTS, a professional new-music ensemble in Richmond, Virginia (1986-2002) and the Cornell Contemporary Ensemble (1982-1986). He directed the University of Richmond Orchestra from 1986-2002. Dr. Cohen participated as a master teacher the first International Electronic Music Week at the Shanghai Conservatory in 2006 and is a regular presenter at the annual National Association of Schools of Music national conventions.
