General Information:
The 1st annual Columbus State Jazz Festival is a unique event in Southwest Georgia, featuring high school and middle school jazz bands from Georgia and Alabama. Seven participating groups will each be featured in 20-minute performances at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts at CSU's Schwob School of Music, and will each be given written critiques and a 1-hour workshop from our panel of national-level jazz adjudicators. All levels of ensemble are welcome. The event will feature a Friday evening performance from the Mingus Big Band (New York, NY), and Saturday performances by the David Brothers Super Big Band (Atlanta, GA), and the Columbus State University Jazz Band, directed by Shirantha Beddage.
