Announcing the first annual Southeast Trombone Symposium to be held June 22-26, 2010 at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. Symposium faculty include Colin Williams (principal trombone, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra), Bill Thomas (second trombone, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra), George Curran (bass trombone, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra) and Dr. Bradley Palmer (trombone professor, Columbus State University). The Symposium will be held in the world-class facilities of the Schwob School of Music at CSU in Columbus, Georgia. One component of the Symposium will be the S.E. Shires Solo Trombone Competition. The winner will receive a custom S.E. Shires Trombone set up on-site by the Shires staff from Boston. Other prizes include a package of over $575 worth of merchandise from Sheridan Brass and a $250 gift certificate from Hickey's music. The tuition is $550, with a 10% discount applied to each member of a pre-formed trombone quartet attending the Symposium. Click for more information on the STS tuition. Participants have the option of staying in the beautiful student apartments directly across the street from the Schwob School of Music for only $25 per night for shared apartments. These apartments feature a kitchen and numerous amenities. Click for more information on the apartments. A $50 deposit will be required at the time of application, which is fully refundable if the applicant is not selected as a participant.
