11/1/09 Registration now open for the Southeast Trombone Symposium, June 22-26, 2010.
10/19/09 Dr. Palmer has been appointed to the staff of the International Trombone Festival, and will serve in the role of Recording Coordinator.
10/8/09 CSU Artists in Residence Colin Williams, Bill Thomas and George Curran from the Atlanta Symphony are joined by Eric bubacz on tuba and Dr. Palmer in a masterclass presentation of low brass orchestral excerpts. Video clips of the class have been added.
9/18/09 GMEA 2010 tenor trombone etude video and audio added.
8/24/09 Video clip of Colin Williams, Bill Thomas and George Curran added. It was filmed during their June 2009 recording session for their upcoming CD.
818/09 Announcing the first annual Southeast Trombone Symposium - June 22-26, 2010. The Symposium is a 5-day trombone workshop hosted at CSU, which includes the S.E. Shires Solo Trombone Competition. The winner of the competition will receive a custom Shires trombone. The Symposium Faculty are Colin Williams, Bill Thomas, George Curran and Bradley Palmer. More information will be posted on the STS page as the details are finalized.

7/20/09 Graduating Senior Joshua Kearney has been hired as a band director in the public schools south of Nashville, TN, near his home town.
7/3/09 Colin Williams, Bill Thomas and George Curran named Artists in Residence for the 2009-2010 academic year at CSU. These Atlanta Symphony Trombonists just finished a week-long recording session in CSU's Legacy Hall, and will be releasing the CD later in 2009. More information on their activities as Artists in Residence in the Schwob School of Music will be coming soon.
6/16/09 Dr. Palmer invited to perform with the Cramer Choir at the 2010 International Trombone Festival in Austin, TX.
5/10/09 Graduating Senior Jessica Ducharme will attend the University of Iowa in the Fall with a Graduate Fellowship and Teaching Assistantship.

4/13/09 Charlie Vernon's residency has come and gone, and what an incredible week it was. Charlie gave private lesson to all of the CSU trombone students, coached the two trombone ensembles and performed an amazing concert at the end of the week. Video clips of the performance have been posted!
3/18/09 Links to the live audio feed from the Eastern Trombone Workshop have been posted. Click here to listen live to any of the events, especially the 6:00 PM performance of the CSU Trombone Choir on Saturday night, March 21. After the Workshop, all of the audio will be archived and can be enjoyed via the web. On Saturday, March 21 at 6:00, the CSU Trombone Choir will perform with Jonathan Warburton and Charlie Vernon as their soloists, and will present two world premier performances.
2/12/09 New video posted! These are some videos that I recorded in Legacy Hall over the last few weeks with some of my trombone colleagues from the Southeast. In addition to Dr. Palmer, the performers include three Atlanta Symphony trombonists, and a number of other area professionals. The Debussy quintets are well-arranged and work nicely for 5 trombones, and the trombone octets by Hartley and Bach are must-see (and hear!) material.
1/28/09 The CSU Trombone Choir will present the world premier of Brad Edwards' "Boneweek Fanfare VI" at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Washington DC. The piece was written in celebration of the International Trombone Week, April 5-12, 2009.
The Trombone Studio at Columbus State University celebrates the ITW with Charlie Vernon's performance on the very first day of the ITW, April 5 at 4:00 PM in Legacy Hall. This is the first public US performance scheduled during the ITW. Tickets are ony $5!!!!
CSU closes it's celebration of the ITW with Hazel Geissinger's recital on April 11 at 4:00 PM in Studio Theater.

11/3/08 CSU graduate student Andrew Shelton has recorded the 2009 GMEA All-state trombone etudes, and video has been posted for anyone preparing them to study.

11/1/08 The CSU Wind Ensemble recording "Visions" featuring Joe Alessi has received three Grammy nominations. The recording is available through Summit Records.
10/25/08 The Phil Smith residency is finished. The Wind Ensemble made another fantastic recording with him, and the concert was something we will remember for a long time. Phil's interaction with music students at CSU will leave a lasting impression. Video of the concert will be posted to the web soon.
10/10/08 The CSU Trombone Choir will feature guest soloists Jonathan Warburton and Charlie Vernon on its performance at the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Washington DC on March 20, 2009.
